October is Computer Learning Month for Charity!

One of the awesome things about the internet is you can do things with and for other people without actually being there. Take for instance teaching someone about computers. Between photos and video and voice, you can show off your digital art techniques or guide someone through a Karazhan raid from the other side of the globe.

And just like donating in real time, you can donate on Squidoo by making a lens for one of our deserving charities. And unlike the fruitcake fundraiser, it runs year round on its own.

October is Computer Learning Month and we’re celebrating by showing off our skills and making a little money for three deserving non-profits. So if you’ve mastered the DVORAK typing system, or are a wizard at setting up a wireless internet router, or developed a sweet new Firefox extension, take 20 minutes to share your knowledge with the world and help those in need.

BTW - did you know you can make any lens shake it’s groove thing for a good cause with the donations module? Have fun!

Quick! What's Squidoo?

Squidoo is the popular publishing platform and community that makes it easy for you to create "lenses" online. Lenses are pages, kind of like flyers or signposts or overview articles, that gather everything you know about your topic of interest – and snap it all into focus. It's a supersimple, fun and powerful way to share your interests, build your online identity and credibility, and connect with new readers and friends. It's all free, and you could even earn a royalty for charity or yourself!
