Sunday Morning SquidMaintenance

This Sunday between 5am and 10am EST (9am to 2pm GMT) we will be hard at work preparing Squidoo for its move to new servers.

Which means? Faster, better, and steadier lens building and browsing for you in the future. During the maintenance period, though, it means you won’t be able to edit your existing lenses or create new ones. BUT rest easy, your lenses will still be live to the world, and your adoring fans and readers can still see them.

We’ll post an update as soon as our maintenance is complete, then you’ll be able to edit, tweak, publish and create lenses to your heart’s content.

Update:We just finished making a few last minute adjustments to correct problems being reported. Thanks again everyone for your patience.

Squidoo is in a twist!

So sorry… we’ve been down for a bit, and we’re working on it as hard as we can.

Hope to be up this morning, asap.

Thanks for your patience.

Introducing Squidaholic

Ever wanted a way to see how your lens, or your lens topic, was faring out on the Interwebs? With just one click?

If you’ve wondered things like: what page does Google list your lens on, for which search terms; or how many sites are linking back to you, compared to your competition; or what blogs have recently posted on your topic; or who has bookmarked you in del.icio.us and StumbleUpon; or how did all those top 100 lenses get there?

Then this is for you.

www.squidaholic.com

On one hand, it’s an interesting look at how people talk about stuff online, and how other people find it. On the other hand, it’s a fantastic tool for getting ideas for promoting your lenses. And on the other other hand (what, you don’t have 3 hands?), it’s just kinda fun to see what your competition is up to.

Break out the boxing gloves

Here are the Top 50 debates happening over on our HeyMonkeyBrain project right now.

Roll up your sleeves and dive in.

There are arguments of all stripes just waiting for your vote, ranging from debates about the death penalty, ageism, breast feeding, organ donors and global warming, to, you know, important questions, like whether Guitar Hero encourages players to pick up the real thing, or if cats are smarter than dogs.

Oh, and on the Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate? Star Wars, all the way. Duh.

Quick! What's Squidoo?

Squidoo is the popular publishing platform and community that makes it easy for you to create "lenses" online. Lenses are pages, kind of like flyers or signposts or overview articles, that gather everything you know about your topic of interest – and snap it all into focus. It's a supersimple, fun and powerful way to share your interests, build your online identity and credibility, and connect with new readers and friends. It's all free, and you could even earn a royalty for charity or yourself!
