Hello out there!

Just a quick note to introduce myself. I’m Jill Gordon, Squidoo’s new Director of Philanthropy. It’s my job to help charities raise funds and spread the word about their causes on Squidoo.

I’ll pop into this blog every now and again with philanthropy updates and goodies… But in the meantime, feel free to email me with charity-related ideas or thoughts at jill@squidoo.com. We’re always looking for fresh ways to help nonprofits do some good for the world.

It’s not our story…

…it’s theirs.

(just a couple of lensmasters who made us blush)

“I decided to Google my Squidoo topics today and discovered several of them are either on the FIRST page of Google, or the second. I have competitors out there who have been at this for a long time, with a lot of backing, and they’re NOT ON GOOGLE’S FIRST PAGE, BUT I AM! It just blows my mind…..” — Margaret Schaut

“During some researching, I looked up “personalized breast cancer” on Google and my Squidoo lens is the first result! … That’s pretty impressive considering the number of breast cancer sites out there…” — Kimberly Dawn Wells

James, on the House Page Program

From: James Kotecki
Subject: House Page Program on Squidoo

Dear Squdioo staff,

I’m a former US House page. A few months ago, I created a lens about the program, just to let people know what it’s like and to give a comprehensive view of the program. The experience was one of the best of my life and I wanted to encourage others to apply.

In light of the recent scandal, traffic to the lens has skyrocketed and I’ve had the chance to positively promote the program on many national television, radio, and newspaper outlets. Many of these outlets got in touch with me through my lens.

Thank you for helping me send a positive message about the Page Program at a time when it badly needs good publicity.

[Thanks, James! For the great lens and for letting us share this note.]

Quick! What's Squidoo?

Squidoo is the popular publishing platform and community that makes it easy for you to create "lenses" online. Lenses are pages, kind of like flyers or signposts or overview articles, that gather everything you know about your topic of interest – and snap it all into focus. It's a supersimple, fun and powerful way to share your interests, build your online identity and credibility, and connect with new readers and friends. It's all free, and you could even earn a royalty for charity or yourself!
