I'm heading to Chicago this weekend for a friend's wedding. So, as a newbie to the city, I figured I'd poke around for some recommendations... spots for good eats, good museums, Wrigley field...
And I found this: a page all about Magnolia Cafe, a restaurant in Uptown Chicago.

From menu items and a Google map to pictures of smiling customers and pretty food, and even a quick Guestbook module asking what your favorite restaurant is -- it's all there.
This is an easy, basic, and good starter signpost online for a restaurant that cares about getting discovered and standing out from the crowd. I bet it didn't take more than 10 minutes to throw together. But it's a smart tactic, for free, to start a conversation around your business.
Do you run a coffee shop, a boutique store, a small venture of your own? Why not take a few minutes to create a new front door online? Better yet, ask 5 of your happiest customers to review your shop on a lens, or on Yelp, or on their blogs (or on all 3!).
People are looking for you, even if they don't know it yet. Give them some breadcrumbs.
